The Spelling Police Strike Again

From the Craigslist Raleigh:

GOURGOUS ENTERTAINMENT CENTER/TV - $350....Its about 6 ft tall im estimating

All in all, many less mistakes than usual!

Sales Techniques To Avoid

Now that the Christmas shopping season is upon us I though I'd share just a few of the sales techniques we have encountered that I don't think are having the desired effect.

1. Continually pester shopping customers with the incredible discount (10%) they can receive if they open a charge account to purchase the $10 item. Even after being emphatically told that the shoppers are definitely NOT INTERESTED continue to drone on and driving paying customers to virtually run out the door.

2. While customers are looking at jackets crammed together so tightly that it is impossible to see the items fully, display the lovely photo cube that is "free" with a mere $75 purchase. Follow the customers around and continue to extol the virtues of the photo cube once again driving the customers to run from the department.

3. When the customers sneak back into the coat department and are looking at $100 coats, proceed to tell them you will show them you "best" jackets (which are in the $400-600 range) forcing customers to run screaming from you.

And it's not even December yet!

Abby's Ear - Plan C

All forms of compression and drainage did not help poor Abby's ear... So she had surgery yesterday and as an added bonus got her teeth cleaned while she slept (don't you wish you could have multiple surgeries done at one time?) Pictures to follow when she gets home from her overnight stay.

Acorn Mulch

We have an oak tree that is producing copious amounts of acorns. Pulling in or out of the driveway causes loud crunching noises and it sounds like you're running over something important. Last time it did this was before hurricane Fran. So what's coming this winter? Snow or ice storm?

Plan B

Ok, so the stocking only lasted a brief period of time before sliding off onto her neck. Not enough pressure to keep it in place. SO...... drained her ear again, placed a rolled 4x4 into her ear and taped the entire ear securely (I hope) for pressure, THEN put it onto the top of her head with the stocking. I cut a hole for her "good" ear (she is almost as deaf as a stone) in hopes that it would also help hold the stocking in place.

Doggie Facelift?

No, this is not the newest trend in exotic dog treatment. Abby has a aural hematoma that we are trying to treat non-surgically. This is the first thing we tried. Drained the ear and then placed both ears on top of her head with a cut piece of anti-embolism stocking (thanks Blue Cross!) to compress and elevate the ear.... add the Elizabethan collar for the full effect :-0

Garage Sale Find!

Check out what we bought on Saturday. Supposedly from PB, we had to buy a new shade and a harp (the metal piece a shade attaches to) but very pretty!

TIP OF THE DAY:

Target sells adjustable lamp harps! Much easier to find a shade that will work with your lamp when you are not constrained by the harp!

Getting Published

Check out Lapidary Journal's October 2006 Bead Annual (page 80)

A New Dawn :-)

This blog name is in honor of Cooper who after being chastised for misbehavior by myself told his mom later in the day that "Miss Linda TOLD me!"

That being said, this blog may contain my latest artistic endeavors, child rearing observations (after all, as I like to jokingly say, "2 of my 3 children are still alive"), political comments, and general reflections on life as I see it.
